Timer

Explanation of role.

Explanation of role.

Mr. Toastmaster, Fellow Toastmasters and Most Welcome guests. Timing is a very important part of a Toastmasters meeting and today I will be timing the prepared speeches, table topics and evaluations. Each event has a "target time window" to shoot for. A typical prepared speech has a time window of five to seven minutes. You will find the times for each event listed on your agendas. When I hold up this GREEN card, it indicates that the speaker has entered his target time window. At the midpoint, I will hold up the YELLOW card. When he reaches the end of the time window, I will hold up the RED card. The speaker qualifies for an award when he completes his speech during his target time window, or 30 seconds before or after it. The speaker disqualifies 30 seconds before or after his target time window except Table Topics where the minimum qualification time is 1 minute.
