Beginning July 1, 1997, Toastmasters will have two tracks for recognition: one for Communications and one for Leadership. Distinguished Toastmasters will have to complete both tracks. (Optionally, you may follow the current recognition path until July 1, 1999.)

Toastmasters International has eliminated the time elements and the Speechcraft and Youth Leadership requirements. The ATM requirements now only require two advanced manuals for each level. They have divided the current Success/Leadership modules into two groups: Success/Communications and Success/Leadership. The modules in each are listed at the end of the recognition requirements below. Use of The Better Speaker series and The Successful Club series programs, utilized in the club environment, is required for the Advanced Toastmaster Silver recognition. These 'mini-modules', each about 10 minutes in length, should not be confused with the Success/Communications or Success/Leadership programs required for the Advanced Toastmaster Gold recognition. For more information, see TMI's article in the October 1996 issue of Toastmaster magazine.
