Organizational Structure

Toastmasters is organized in a structure that is similar to many organizations, but the terminology may be different.
Toastmasters Structure Diagram

The Club is the base of the Toastmasters organization. Clubs exist so that the members of the organization can continue to benefit and learn. Clubs tend to have 20 to 30 members. Each club has an executive which ensures that the learning environment at the club is of the highest quality.

Clubs are organized into Areas. An Area typically contains 4 or 5 clubs. An Area Governor is assigned to help the executives of the clubs in the Area to provide quality programs for members. The Area Governor is the resource person and contact for the club with the International Organization.

Areas are (optionally) grouped into an entity called a Division. A Division Governor is elected or assigned to help co-ordinate the activities of the Area Governors and to provide educational opportunities that can benefit all the clubs in the Division. Division E includes all of the clubs in Northern Saskatchewan. There are currently seven areas in Division E.

Divisions are also grouped together to form Districts. Division E is part of District 42. This district includes clubs from Alberta and Saskatchewan. A District Governor, Lt. Governor Education & Training, and Lt. Governor Marketing are elected by the clubs to provide co-ordination of the Toastmasters program in the divisions that comprise the district.

Districts are also organized into groups called Regions. This is the largest administrative grouping. Two people from within a region are elected to sit on the board of Toastmasters International and represent the people of their region. District 42 is part of Region IV. Region IV includes Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa.

Toastmasters International is headed up by a President, Second Vice President, Third Vice President, the directors from the regions, and the program director. These people all work together to provide an educational program which is then administered by the other levels of government in Toastmasters.
